Life-changing eye-opener about how your brain works
"It's not typical you. It's typical stress!"
Too often I hear someone say or do something ugly, saying "typical me, to be so stupid, to make messes, to be late, ... typical me? What do you mean "typical me? I notice that a lot of people who they are identify with their stress behaviors, with what they do in stress.
In plaats van te zeggen ‘in stress doe ik geïrriteerd, ben ik gehaast en heb ik geen ruimte’, hoor ik ‘ik ben een geïrriteerd mens, heb nooit tijd of ruimte’.
Je pretending to be your stress behavior, while only so does Because your brain is in stress. In doing so, you undermine yourself, and that's not okay because that doesn't make things better. You then berate yourself: 'how can you be so stupid, inattentive, absent-minded, ...'. Or you give others a hard time. Because they know it's not you, that you only act that way when you're bothered.
So you are okay but in stress you do not act okay because then your brain is not working properly.
