My own search was long and extensive
Being bullied is a form of boundary crossing.
And any kind of boundary crossing is traumatizing.
Among other traumatic experiences, I have also experienced what it is like to be bullied at work.
It produces incredible stress, as all traumatic experiences do.
I am a researcher. I have researched and tried different methods. They all helped me a little along the way to have less stress, less problems and less suffering from my traumatic experiences.
But that was not enough.
I finally wanted a real solution.
I didn't find one and so I decided to develop it myself.
By combining all the working elements from the many different methods I learned into one working whole, Live The Connection was born.
I was my first participant of my own.
I tried everything on myself and it works!
I first shared it with people for free and developed follow-up steps.
It has become a complete program that gives people the tools to truly heal themselves from trauma, negative beliefs and self-sabotage.
My biggest frustrations in other methods were that they didn't work or only partially worked and that I was often dependent on a therapist or coach for a long time.
I am enormously pleased that I managed to create a method that is simple, that people can apply to themselves and that REALLY works.

Focus directly on the real cause
Being bullied (or being bullied) is traumatic, which causes your alarm center to be constantly active.
Stress hormones are constantly active in your body.
Having to throw yourself to the lions every day is no fun.
And physically, mentally and emotionally it's exhausting because all those alarms are going off in your brain all the time.
Moreover, it is difficult to respond from your strength when you are in defense mode, you fight, flee or freeze.
It is necessary to unwind, to disconnect the triggers that cause your alarm to sound from your alarm center....
Then you can breathe again and get back in touch with yourself.
That's what you learn with the method.
You will learn how to disconnect triggers from your alarm system and experience real peace.
Can it be done? Yes, you can!
You may think that this is not possible. That what happens in your brain cannot be influenced.
That information is outdated. We have incredible influence over our brains.
Our brains are constantly learning and connections between different parts of the brain are very important in this process.
And you can learn how to create these connections SELF.
We as human beings are able, without opening our skulls, to influence what is going on inside there in our brain.
But how?
How is that possible?
Our brains are actually a kind of jellyfish....
Which is located throughout our body with long, stringy tentacles, in the form of our nervous system.
When we do something with our bodies, it also does something to our brains.
When we put our hands together, a connection takes place. When we look at an image and see text at the same time, a connection takes place.
When we do activities that require 2 hands (think crafts or dishwashing), connections are formed.
Our brain, besides being a carnal mass, is also electrical and magnetic.
Just as radio waves are invisible, brain waves and brain activity are invisible as well as impressionable.
Sounds like hocus pocus? It may indeed seem so, all the more so because it is about yourself.

My 'inappropriate' behavior led to the breakthrough
My name is Marina Riemslagh. I am a founder of Live The Connection, trainer and supervisor.
Before this I was a nurse, psychiatric nurse and spiritual caregiver.
I spent 5 years at KULeuven doing scientific research on stress behavior in professionals working with people.
I now have over 30 years of experience in coaching and training people.
And I am an expert by experience and specialize in learning to resolve the effects of trauma independently.

Where does my fascination with stress come from?
The real reason for my search and my scientific research on stress behavior was my own stress.
And also my sometimes "inappropriate" behavior as a professional (and I saw my colleagues struggling with this as well).
Improper?
I didn't understand why I got so irritated sometimes. It made my work difficult.
How could I help someone if that person irritated me so much?
The most annoying thing was that I didn't want to behave that way, but it came naturally and very often I didn't understand myself why it happened.
My behavior was caused by the traumas I had experienced in my life.
Small and larger traumas in my childhood, but also in my later life such as being bullied at work, among others.
I am a driven person and found it very difficult to be so hindered from being able to do my job properly.
That was my research question at the university:
Why is it that professionals sometimes behave improperly?
And the answer was:
Stress, which in turn is caused by trauma, as I later discovered.
There began my great quest to truly be able to resolve stress.
And stress plays a crucial role in organizations and groups in which bullying behavior occurs.
The cause is stress and the consequence is stress.
And stress affects all areas of our lives in a negative way.
The many forms of therapy that I have examined closely work on the surface.
They usually do not touch the deep layer of our existence, down to the level of our impulses, which means that in most forms of therapy, you still depend on your willpower.
And that's not convenient.
Willpower is not strong enough to control your automatic behaviors, thoughts and impulses.
Willpower is not an inexhaustible force.
It usually runs out when we need it most.

After 5 years of scientific research at the Catholic University of Leuven (BE) on stress behavior in professionals, it was clear to me that stress is the cause of almost all our problems.
I became incredibly interested in how to really resolve stress.
I was able to thoroughly explore what it takes for people to truly experience lasting change.
And for the past 10 years I have been working with the tools I developed myself.
Tools that participants can use independently, offered in a form necessary to help yourself.
Stress does not start with events or situations
That stress causes many problems in contact with other people is obvious.
In any kind of relationship, stress is a killer of good contact.
And the fact that contact is disrupted also causes stress.
To resolve the stress caused, you will have to work at a very deep level.
Lots of methods are aimed at reducing stress, learning to manage stress or learning to cope with stress.
But stress does not start with events or situations.
Focusing on learning how to manage stress is putting the cart before the horse.
Stress starts with the triggers that are in your brain.
To be more precise, in your alarm center.
Resolving the alarms and thus the triggers is the real solution to stress.
The method I have developed is aimed at disconnecting the triggers from your alarm center, so there is much less stress in your body in the first place!
This is the real solution to the huge impact that being bullied at work has.
As long as the triggers of this traumatic experience remain active, it is mopping up.
As long as you don't clear the triggers, you will continue to suffer from a lot of stress.
You can possibly learn to deal with it a little better, but that is not a SOLUTION.
Solve it by disconnecting the triggers from your alarm center in your brain.
Imagine...
Suppose you were once almost run off your bike by a red car and every time you are on your bike and a red car passes by, you experience stress:
Your heart speeds up, your hands get sweaty, you stiffen up all over....
You can do breathing techniques and mumble positive affirmations like "I am safe," but the fact is that your alarm system kicks in, causing your body to produce stress hormones.
There is no arguing against that. Your biology wins.
Once you have disconnected the triggers, your alarm system will no longer turn on and you will not have to do anything!
You just know that you are safe and your brain and body knows that too.

I highly recommend this methodology! The connection processes I have learned help me tremendously to release stress, change patterns I had more than enough of, but also to really heal deeply experienced traumas and to feel more connected with the people around me. All it asks of you is to apply them too... 🙂 You can do that alone, but also with others! And there is always someone willing (from the courses I took) to work with you. Really a methodology where you are in control of yourself!
This is because we are so "programmed" in what is possible and what is not, that it is difficult for our brain to grasp anything outside of our programming.
So to properly fly this process, it is necessary to take the right steps in the right order.
What is especially important - and the first big step you have to take - is to be well informed and have a good understanding of the problem.
Because you will never solve a problem that you don't have a clear picture of.
